Old Wive's tale hatching eggs

So I was told that you can figure out which you would get hen or rooster from eggs by looking at them and go by the ends of the eggs.
One person says if you want hens to use the pointy end eggs and then another said the rounded end eggs for hens.
So any of you heard of this and which is correct if any?

Old. Gender is determined at time of fertilization. I have read that on average you will get a 50-50 split of hens and roosters when the eggs hatch. I have seen 8 roosters and 1 hen out of a sitting hen. I think it is probably an old wives tale.

If anyone knew how to do this, it would be the hatcheries which spend a lot of money hatching millions of unwanted rooster eggs. OWT.

Quote from the Farmers Almanac, so it's gotta be true!

"Old wives' tales suggest that the shape of an egg indicates the sax of the chick that will hatch from it. Unfortunately, there is no truth to this myth. Scientists are unable to distinguish between the saxes before the eggs hatch."

Not true.

The poultry world would be a lot different if chickens could be sexed by simply looking at the eggs.

I never believed it until this year. I made sure EVERY egg was very rounded and no point at all. I got 1 rooster out of 28 hatched eggs. Up till now it was always 50-50. Might be luck of the draw. May have to do with feed that goes into the hen, maybe weather..don't really know but I will try it next year again.

Pointy eggs ARE more likely to be male. Maybe pointy and more likely are hard to define, but if you eat all the pointy eggs, you will get more pullets than cockerels.

Unlike people, chickens gender is determined by the egg, not the sperm.

Also, egg color does not determine chicken color, but there is a link. The hen's earlobe color determines egg color. I think its white or blue earlobes, lay white, green, or blue eggs, and red earlobes lay brown eggs.
