I have never been to the Rock River Thresheree. I hear that it is a good show. Any one to review it??? LOL

Thinking of going up Friday seeing what I can. Then spend the night at Janesville and then hitting it hard an early Saturday.

I know IH is featured this year. I kind of planned it that way. I am about JD out on old stuff for now. I am hoping there is some of the old IH farm stead stuff. Like milkers and household stuff. There was not much of that around me here. Mostly JD stuff.

It's always a great show. I attend every year, and there's always more to see. The "featured brand" always brings out some interesting and rare models. There's always the steamers, threshing and a steam pile driver. Lots of tractors of all brands, some restored and some in their work clothes. You'll have a great time!

I haven't been to it in3 or 4 years and I'm still a little tuckered out from the Baraboo show last weekend, never been to that one before.
I like that Rock River one though, I think it's just a neat place where it's at.

First time for me at rock River was about 49 yrs ago. Have went 30 plus times sense then. Other things have got in the way at times. We have shown tractors there for a few yrs. Done the flea mkt. for about 12 yrs, droped that , but was fun then, made good friends while doing that.
Usually 400 plus tractors there , plus lots of other stuff. A nice varity of steam engines too. A very large showing of small to large gas engines. The flea mkt. does have some old tractor things in it. An interesting display of old trucks and cars there too. An interesting ride on the narrow gauge train can be had.Espesally when the engine derails!. That prob. has been fixed now.
The show is easy to get to and not far from good motels at the north side of Janesville.
But you mite make your motel reservation now!, Motels will fill up , as it is the holiday week end, BTDT. You will have a good time and go home very tired , lol. clint.

Its a fun show. I usually hit Mt Pleasant with dad, then when I get back home I run up to Janesville for a day. Its a good sized show that always has some unique things. Its doable in a long day, but you can make two out of it really easy with all thats going on. Besides multiple threshers and the usual demos, they also have a steam train and a steam pile driver and a big sandbox for playing with construction equipment. Feature wise, anything they do, they usually have an excellent turnout and they will bring in special feature items. Last year, they brought in a full line of cases including a 40-60 to recreate an old case advertising photo:

I like the whole event. My wife and I have gone every year since we discovered it a few years ago. Our three daughters even manage to enjoy themselves (for a few hours anyways). They even got to 'drive a tractor' at the RRT!! So far, it's been their only experience. but i hope to change that someday

It's a great event, wandering, looking, chatting... I'm a novice, but usually can make easy talk with the gentlemen who operate the machines.

There's other fun too. We never skip the sorghum shack; the sawmill, blacksmith's shop, the industrial steam building and afternoon parade make for a good day.

I'm planning to go Monday morning. I hope it's not all cleared out by then. I'd like to see an IH 606 - lots of memories from when I was a kid.
