OT-stuck cd

2004 monte carlo with a cd player with a cd stuck in player-any ideas beside taking dash out, removing cd player, and shipping out for a $300 fee

A few things you can try:

Blow some compressed air into the CD slot. Sometimes obstructions prevent the disc ejection.

Take a Q-tip and some rubbing or denatured alcohol and clean the cd slot. Many disc drives have an optical sensor to detect a slot obstruction and it will not eject if the sensor is dirty.

If you can take the dash apart of an 04 Monte Carlo, then you can probably handle taking apart the radio and getting the disc out yourself. Sometimes all it takes is removing the top cover and lifting the disc stop manually with a small screw driver or pick tool. Then you can push the CD out.

Good luck!

Somebody gave us some CD's once of really wierd music. I loaded them in the stereo to play and that is when the stereo refused to open the tray to remove them. Tried a lot of things but tray would not open. Stereo was still under warranty so returned it to Costco for full refund. That was a really good way to get rid of the CD's that we didn't want anyway - just left them in the stereo when we returned it.

Look closely at the front of the player, some of them have a tiny hole you can poke a straightened paperclip in to unlock the drawer.

I had a Mustang Cobra that would do that no eject crap. If I would remove the battery cable and let everything reset hook the cable back up it would eject them just fine.

My boat had a Hanna Montana CD stuck in it for about 2 years until I changed the radio. My daughter wast about 7 then.

The bad part of that deal is that it probably still played! <shudder> ;)

The one I put in my 07 chevy would do that once it warmed up. Slide a bank card, business card, something of that nature, in on top of it. Hit eject, when it pops up, pull slightly, increased traction on the rollers pulled it out.

had a guy give me a $100 bill when i was in my truck one day, didnt want to put it in my pocket or on the dash so i stuck it in the cd slot, to my surprise it sucked it right in, had to take the dash apart and the radio to get it out. thats the only thing ive ever put in the cd player

My 2004 Silverado had the same problem. Very common to that year for GM OEM radios...do a google search. Might as well bite the bullet and pull the radio out. Chances are it will continue to happen.

Used factory radios are cheap and plentiful from the salvage yards, but they need to be reprogrammed to your vehicle's vin# to unlock. I spent more for the programming than I did for the radio when replacing mine.

I slipped another CD part way into my player and applied down pressure on it and the other CD came out with it.
