I was just looking on Craig's List and saw this ad. It really makes me wonder what some people are thinking, or if they are thinking at all. I mean seriously, you went to the grocery store, and just because they had a special on 'meat' you bought 5 whole pounds of pigs feet that you have no intention of eating yourself. Now your on CL trying to give away pigs feet.

Seriously I know there are folks out there that like pigs feet, and there are probably some that would love to get 5 pounds of them free, but why pigs feet???? I mean when I go grocery shopping and there is a special on something like meat, etc, I might buy some steaks or something like that, but who in their right mind buys extra pigs feet when they don't even eat them???

Call it what you will, but I will gladly commend them for giving away something they don't eat, but just have to say that buying it in the first place is just plain stupid.....
Poke here

Might have been grouped together with something else, like buying package deal, 5bls of bacon, 5lbs of chops and 5lbs of pigs feet. When we have a cow butchered we get all the extras like the liver, tongue. I have no use for liver so I give it away.

I spent many an evening sitting alone at the kitchen table staring at a cold plate of liver and onions. Battle of the wills between my mom and I, though I don't recall either one of us winning. Liver could gag a maggot off a dead wagon.

Maybe I'm wrong in my assessment as I hadn't thought of it like that, and you may be on to something. Still I've been grocery shopping for a lot of years and never remember seeing a deal on meat that included pigs feet in the mix. Like I said it's not like it was steak, hamburger, or even liver. Around here pigs feet has always seemed to be more of a specialty thing that not all of the stores had, or you had to really look hard to find them in the meat section. In other words it's not something I'd expect to get bundled with the usual stuff....but who knows....

I am willing to bet that they got a package deal on pork. They are in the south where pigs feet is more common.

I just looked at Compare Foods ads. They are a chain that has unusual foods. They advertised Pigs feet, goat meat and some other what I would call ethnic foods.

By the way. I love beef and chicken liver. An I hate brussel sprouts. I would rather eat dirt than them.

So we all like or dis-like different foods. That makes a more diverse society.

Well they got 48lbs 8 oz meat package for $89.99.
Look at their weekly sale flyer.
5 lb pigs feet was part of the deal.

I wonder what kind of "meat" lol. I remember my brother was shopping in the supermarket and saw a package labeled "ground meat".......?

There were 8-9 different meats in 5 lb package mostly. One 10 pound package. It was not all pork if I remember correctly.

He got a good deal on the whole lot of meat and
doesn't want the pigs feet, sure doesn't make him stupid.I buy box lots at auctions cheap all the time just to get one or two items at a bargain price and end up giving some of the other stuff away.

I know this is different, but I volunteer one day a week at a food bank. The meat we get is donated to the larger organization by Wal-Mart, Meijer, and several of the big chains. And occasionally we'll receive an order with pig's feet in it. As a volunteer, I know most of these people come in expecting hamburger, sausage, chicken, or a roast of some kind...and we have to be almost out of meat for me to send someone home with pig's feet. But sometimes we don't have much choice.

I know this person says they acquired the pig's feet a different way...but what if they qualified for a food box, and that was the meat they were given...and they don't know how to prepare them, and they're too embarrassed to say they came in a box of donated food?
