We live here in central IL and are getting ready for our Threshing Days at the end of the month. Does anyone have ideas on a good supplier of coal to fire the steam engines?
 
Night Hawk mine near Sparta, IL.. That is where the American Thresherman Association gets it for there show.
 
Hmm, wish you were closer I could get you all you would need, I live in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming we have Big open pit mines here and employees can get what ever they want, I have several friends who work at them,, hope you have a great show!! how about posting some pics here afterward?

We're about to celebrate our steam show at Blanchard Michigan this weekend. We'll be firing our steamers with fire wood, most of it will be the remains of stuff we cut up at the steam powered sawmill.
 
Bossert fireplace in mineral point wi sells coal by the bag .the have 2 sizes of coal maybe they could give you a number where you can buy some

I have been to your show once, but it normally conflicts with Clarksville.

And we will be firing the steamer with wood also, tho we have some coal if needed.
 
Where at in Central IL? have you tried to contact the mine near Springfield?
