white smoke

For some time now, my "49 Deere B has been emitting puffs of white smoke, almost from the moment it is started. I checked the radiator and there is no bubbling that would indicate a faulty head gasket and, besides, the water level is pretty much the same. It does not use oil and starts immediately, especially when its cold. Carb is a bit dirty, though. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Very likely condensation. Where I live it tends to be very humid, and my 2000 Ford sits in the machine shed. On start up it will blow a good puff of white smoke out, and then a few droplets of liquid, and then it stops. I thought at first it was a cracked head, etc, but after checking and rechecking the coolant, I know it has to be simple condensation.

Condensation? Perhaps. But, last friday I was cutting hay and it lasted for about 9 hours. Condensaton shouldn't last that long, should it? I thought that if it were rings I'd have a lot more trouble starting it. Fires on the 2nd rev of the flywheel. Could a dirty carb produce *white* smoke?

Condensation should be gone shortly after it starts up. Are you sure the oil is ok. Have you checked to see if you have gas in it.Is coolant level staying the same.Air filter clean. Water in fuel. Just thinking of things to check. Bad carb could cause the smoke. But the smoke should be black.

I think I may have found the problem: an over-full (and dirty) air cleaner cup. Cleaned, flushed, and re-filled. Very little smoke now. Thanks!
