JD 68 Rear Engine Rider

My FIL brought his rider out because it wouldn't run. If he poured a little gas in the carb, it would run for a few seconds. I took the carb off and found the bowl was full of motor oil. How could that happen? Anything short of sabotage? Briggs and Stratton engine with float and needle valve type carburetor. After I cleaned it up, it ran fine.
Thanks, Roy

FIL copped to a senior moment and admitted pouring oil in the gas tank. he had drained the gas tank, but evidently the oil got in the carburetor before he drained the tank
