Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.

Most of it is something I have believed for years. We just plain have more information in our brains to sort through. Some people have a faster cranial processer and can get to it quicker than others. My cranial processor is at about one megahert where most others are in the gigs and terras. LOL Jim

We all understand how a computer slows up as we have more programs running..this ties up the memory much like a human...think about it..we only understand how a human memory operates..how would we build a memory that operates any differently..not possible..humans have not progressed far enough to build anything different than they understand.......my 2 cents......

Doctors thought I was dyslexic when I was at school....but after
many tests they discovered I was just thick!!!!....hasn't changed
much over the years!.................

Wow, that's a switch. When I was in school they didn't have any dyslexic kids like me. We were all just 'lazy'.

That might explain why I can't remember something - then it will come to me a day or 2 later.

Considering all the other derogatory explanations for the aging mind slowing down, I much prefer to think of it from your point of view.

Mine's on a mental rolodex that I have to crank by
hand......takes more than a couple days, sometimes.

Every one knows that alcohol kills brain cells, but I figure it's kind of like the law of the jungle. Only the weak antelope are caught by the lion, thus the alcohol only kills the weaker brain cells, leaving the strong ones intact. I think that's why I am so much smarter after I've had a few.

Heard a while ago

"The human brain has computing abilities beyond those of electronic computers

It is a little slow on recall

And it is the only computer that can be constructed entirely by unskilled labour"

My solution for that was to join D*A*M. In case you're wondering, that's 'Mothers Against Dyslexia'........

who knows, im 54 and have retained tons of knowledge, mind you i have forgot more then some has ever learned. maybe the old man used to be a genius, cause now a days he can't find his glasses or a screwdriver he sat down 2 minutes ago. goes around all day yelling at himself for being stupid. geeeze, i never want to be that smart.
