450 Farmall death wobble

I have removed the worm gear but I can't get the main gear out of the housing so I can give it a half turn to put the worn road gear spot to the other side.. HELP!!! Special tool maybe ??

I never tried to take one out of a Farmall tractor. On the older John Deeres, I loosen the nut, but leave it on the threads, jack the front end up till wheels are off the ground, put a wood block on the top and smack it with the sledge hammer. Takes them right off. Hope this helps you.

Same process on the 450. Heating the gear with a propane torch (not Oxy) will assist. There is no way toput a puller on it at all. Jim

One of the 4 bolts that hold the lower bolster on has a long head and acts as a stop bolt. Take it out and you can rotate it 180 degrees and you don't have to pull the gear. You might want to replace the top bushing if it is worn.
