Dog is a fussy eater

Out Border Collie is around 12 years old. She would eat almost anything, and was fed twice a day. Now she eats only one time a day in the evening. All she will eat is chicken the wife cooks. Now she has been turning up her nose at that. She will chew a dog bone treat. It has been determined she has bladder cancer. She doesn't seam to be in pain, and sleeps good at night. We go for short walks to the barn, and she is still frisky.Is the dog just trying to die, and were not letting her? Stan

As dogs get older their appetites change just like us humans. Softer food and easier things to digest. The bladder cancer may have something to do with it,..but more that likely that would cause the dog to have trouble urinating or cause a blockage.

12 is way past middle age for the breed. Maybe take a look at the teeth, often ignored by owners and can cause a good dog to not eat properly due to pain. I love dogs and it is frustrating to not be able to know what is wrong, especially as they age.
Border collie is a great breed, very smart and good natured. Best of luck with it.

Last year my Rat Terrier didnt want to eat and didnt want to be around me. Took it to the vet,kidneys were failing,had to put it down,no money would fix it. Sure do miss that dog.
