I'm heading to Johnstown PA for a family reunion on Saturday. I'll be there 2 or 3 days and was wondering if there is anything to see or do in the area. Thanks Jim

My dads side of the family was from Johnstown. I remember as a kid packing into the station wagon and driving the 5 hours out to there. They took my great grandfathers farm for the airport. I wouldnt be upset if I never make it back out to that town...

Jim,

A few miles up the river is Mineral Point and

located there is the Staple bend Tunnel. Park

service has restored the tunnel , it is a

worth while tour. I have several hundred photos

of the restoration in progress and was there

for a tour during the work.

Lived about 20 minutes from there. So much to do and see. Check out the flood museum and the incline plane. Its great for the whole family. And its very interesting. Also lots to see around the area too if you want to drive a little ways. Horseshoe curve is neat and was a huge advancement to helping us settle the West.

Flight 93 site is tastefully done. It is a somber, well designed memorial. You'll be in some beautiful western Pennsylvanian country. Enjoy your trip.
