oliver oil change

You should know better than to ask what is "best", it will open can of worms. Just use a good 15W-40 Diesel oil in everything.

I use Delvac 1300.

You should also maybe consider a set of manuals. First thing I order when I get new equipment. Sometimes I have them before I buy it just so I know what to look for.

(quoted from post at 08:49:42 07/24/14) I would google Oliver 550 D to get boo koo info on your tractor.

i did google it this morn and spent half of it looking with no luck, i even called a website that claims to know all about them and they didn't know, so before we had to go i posted this in a last ditch effort. the shop manual says 4 quarts, but with no details like if you also change the filter, and it didn't mention anything about 15w-40, so i didn't trust it. just saying

Jennifer, you are probably through with the oil change by now, but one thought. If you are not sure, you can always drain the oil and that will giver you an idea of what it will require, plus allow for the filter. Refill with that amount and check dipstick--- Take it from there. As to the brand, everyone has their favorite brand, but they all have to meet Govt. specs. so in my HO, it doesn't matter that much.

I have had better luck with the Delvac than Rotella on older engines that use oil, and it is much less.
