Finally got some new steer tires on the not new
anymore truck. Made 205,000 miles on these so I'm
real happy bout that. I usually get around 100,000
miles. These are Bridgestones and the total bill to
me was just under $1,100.00. Thought the new torque
impact wrench was cool tho, torques without a hand
wrench.

I don't care Jon,

$500 for a tire is just simply outrageous. One of these days, we're gonna implode, boys.

My truck took floats on the front, around $750 each. They wore pretty well though, probably about 60,000 miles. The aluminum rims wore out too. I put four new rears on about a month before selling and the tech told me that I would need new wheels next time. That was at around 100,000.

Don't know much about truck tires, but 205,000 miles sure surprises me. I thought you were having to get those old gals re-shod constantly. I sure see enough road gators on the Interstate to support that belief.

But as far as getting baby a new pair of shoes, I still think its lots more fun to take my 4 year old granddaughter shoe shopping than your average Peterbilt. Probably not easier, but sure more fun.

Over 200k on a set of steer tires is real good. You must have balancers.
I noticed I got more miles out of a set once I installed Centramatic Wheel Balancers back when I had to worry about such things.

The one thing I did not like about super singles. No place to put old steer tires when they wore funny.

What are good casings worth now a days??
$75-$100????

Got $50.00/ea. for the casings. No balancers and the tire were never balanced from new. I was surprised to see that since they never shook. I had centramatics on my last truck and took them off. They are in my shed never to be on my truck again.

They have a "magic" bar they use. It has a 6' handle and looks kinda like a 2 prong heavy duty hoe. They just push it into the bead and lift it up to pull the first bead, then drop it down and lift it again and it pulls the second bead. Works like magic as far as I can tell. I know they cost about $500.00 so they should.
