JD air conditioner question

The A/C in the 7800 is not quite what I am used to (with the 4440). The dealer says it is dropping the temp 30 degrees which is expected. I have blown out all of the cabin filters but noticed that it has stopped draining water off of the system. My understanding is that everything is under the seat. Anyone know where that drain is? I know it was dripping during planting but I don't remember where!

Why is it that the unit in the 4440 is so good? The cab isn't all that well insulated and there is lots of glass. I know the cab is much smaller but that thing will freeze me out on low when it is 100 degrees. I'd rather be in that thing than the pickup !

well it has to do with Freon your 4440 probably has it where as the 7800 has R22. I once made it snow in a mid 70's caddy by overcharging the system it had a heater core leak as well LOL

"the 7800 has R22"

I've learned to "never say never", but as a refrig tech certified in both mobile and stationary refrigeration, I have NEVER heard of/encountered a mobile refrigeration system charge with R22.

I'll second that, Bob.....
The problem sounds like it needs recharging. If it is not getting cold enough to condense the humidity from the air, then it is not cooling as it should. Ideal evaporator temperature is about 34 degrees F. Any colder will cause icing, much warmer, and it simply lacks effectiveness.

As a side note, my GF just got a new compact refrigerator for her son. It has a warning on it that it uses a flammable refrigerant R-600a. I find it interesting that a new refrigerant that is flammable has now apparently replaced R-12 and R-134a - at least in small refrigerators. If we were going to return to a flammable refrigerant, why not go back to propane. Aside from being flammable, it is otherwise the IDEAL refrigerant.

This is the refrigerant listed in the 7800 parts catalog.
TY15949 Refrigerant - R134a Refrigerant, 12 Oz. (N/A for Canada or California) ADD 10.49 USD

We have a 6400 Deere. The AC coil and blowers are all under the seat. Not to bad to get to once you have done it once or twice....the first time you will become a sailor.....language wise.

Ours had the air return vents in the cab knocked out, and had sucked a bunch of crap up into the coil under the seat. It wouldn't cool worth a damn. Got that cleaned out and we are good to go now.
