It got a heavy shower this morning .So do I cover it to keep the other heavy rain that's coming off it ?Or will the moisture that will be under the tarp cause just as much damage as the rain to come? And to keep this tractor related my JD 4010 spit the clutch fingures out the bottom the other night. Is this a problem with these tractors?By chance does anyone have a pressure plate for a core? Thanks guys..

I'd cover it before the next rain, then take it back off as soon as the rain stops so it can air out some more.

Cover it, but instead of tying the tarp down around the sides, use 2 X 2's or bean poles to prop the tarp out away from the sides- this will allow air circulation to keep drying the stack, while the tarp over the top will keep additional rain out.

Use a good tarp, not the 'blue' things. The cheap
ones will allow rain to get in in any low or not
quite tight holes and ruin the hay. If it's not
quite dry, and rain is coming, put the tarp on and
take it off after the rain has passed until it does
dry. Leaving it on will only help it to rot if it
isn't completely dry.

I have a 4010 and needed the clutch rebuilt after
the throw out bearing seized up and burned the
clutch fingers off. The bearing was shot. But hey,
its a 1961 tractor. 50 years for a clutch to go?
What more could some one want?

Don't worry about the clutch core, just put in a NEW clutch assembly from Hy Capacity or A&I. Small price difference makes new a no-brainer. They don't want the cores for new clutches so all my cores end up on the scrap pile.
