I had posted this down in the Case/DB forum earlier. Got a couple of replies(Thanks casenutty & RGMartin).

Sorry about reposting up here but, I'm going to look at this tractor in the morning and just wanted more opinions.

1979 David Brown 995DB 2WD tractor, 4 cylinder diesel, 59 PTO hp., 1 set wet lines, independent 540/1000 PTO, power steering, good tires and rims, starts good/runs good. Hours: 5169

Would $3000.00 be a pretty good deal?

How are parts availability? Are they a decent tractor? Any problems with them. I'm a Ford guy and don't know anything about these.

Thanks for any help/advice.

Pretty fair price. Good tractor, great on fuel, parts are a lot easier to get now than even a few years back. Electrical system is by Lucas, the Prince Of Darkness! It's just DIFFERENT, not bad, just different. The hydraulics on them are good, but need to be kept clean, you can't run filthy oil for decades and not have problems. Overall they are a nice tractor. They are like most, they either grow on you or you hate them. For $3K with good rubber...I wouldn't walk away if I needed it.

I run a 990, love it. You do have to accept that it's British built and while they do build things very well and long lasting, they don't build them like "we" do. Again, it's just a little different. A factory shop manual is a huge help as is the Op manual and finding the David Brown Tractor Club website forum.

I have a 990. I really like mine. I especially like how good it is on fuel. I rebuilt my engine and PTO several years ago, no problem with getting the parts.

I almost purchased another one last fall at an auction, irritates me that I didn't.
