Cool truck (pics)

A friend inherited a 1926 (we think) Chevy (we think) truck. It's sitting in a shed where his grandfather parked it right before he was killed in a farm accident in 1967.

Wooden spoke wheels are in pretty good shape!

It is a Chevy 37 0r 36 likely. Very nice find. My neighbor had one we used for a play toy that was just the chassis. It always ran well. Contracting mechanical band brakes are its biggest issue. If adjusted perfectly and it is a dry day the do hint at stopping. Jim

(quoted from post at 22:06:40 07/21/14) very nice for your friend, sorry about his grandpa.

Jennifer, that was a long time ago. At the time his mother was going through a messy divorce so Jim and his brother were living with the grand parents. The boys were in school. He rolled a tractor on himself but grandma told the boy he died of a heart attack so they wouldn't be afraid of equipment. They bought a new 1956 4 door Chevy Belair in 56. She kept and drove that car in the summer only after he passed. She live on the farm in the summer and in town in the winter. She parked the car (he inherited it too) in the garage in the fall of 88 and passed that winter. The car sat in the garage until about a week ago after she passed. Unfortunately he plans on selling them both. I'd at least keep the truck! I'm very disappointed that my dad sold all of his equipment while I was in the Army when he retired from farming except his AC CA. That he promised to me. While I was on my last tour of Germany in the early 90's mom sold it. I would love to own something like that when it had been in the family that long. If I had the space and time I'd buy the truck! Would be really cool to own.

My uncle had one like that. It was a common thing back then to take the doors off. We had a used 1935 Dodge 5-speed that already had the doors removed when Dad bought it. I had to hang from the steering wheel to reach the clutch when I first started driving it.

Nice truck. If I had the chance I would own it. I
think it would look best just the way it is. Maybe a
coat of clear to keep it that way.

Where is he located? I would be interested in the
car if he is going to sell it, it sounds like it
could be in very good original shape, which is
something I would like to have. Email is open.
