wonder if there are any old time oil company workers still here.
Let me preface by saying garage smells don't affect me at all usually.
Don't even know I have gear oil on me until the woman yells to get those clothes OUTSIDE :D
Well, I dropped the finals pans on a 40's AC C recently.
Old oil, probably original or almost. Very dirty, but not contaminated at all. nice and black.
You could sense the gear oil smell, but something else too.
a sweeter smell too, evil, made my eyes water, hard to breathe.
So, what's in that old stuff??

0 years ago, my mother would always comment, "you have been messin in Sinclair oil haven't you?", when dad, brother or my self came in the house. Sinclair did have a strong sulphur smell!

Old tired oil. Probably poorly refined by today's standards. Probably lots of sulfur. Ever smell crude oil? Then there's years of contamination... Probably not that nice smelling to begin with.

I have no way to tell if I was told the truth but the gear oil CASE used in the "C/L/ Flambeau series I was told had Whale oil in it, it smelled enough to have "fish" in it lol
cnt
