Where to sell a vintage Caterpillar on line

I have a friend who is down sizing some of his equipment
because of poor health, and the time it takes to maintain
everything. He has what he thinks is a 1942 Caterpillar grader. I
know it runs because he drove it on his property this week. He
was told it worked on the Alaska highway. It is located in the
Fraser Valley of BC, about 1 hour east of Vancouver. I have
included a link to some pics. He loves to save equipment from
the scrap dealer and he has it priced at $2,000. Scrap must be
close to that. I took some pics of the tags I could see on a quick
look around the machine. Is there a place on the web to sell
equipment like this? He doesn't use internet so I am helping him
out. By the way, if you can't read the number on the engine, it's 18P5955.
Caterpillar Grader

Darn if I had some way to haul it, only 8 hours West of me. Especially since I'm headed to Vancouver in August.
Honestly, posting items on forums like this is the best bet, I believe there is quite a vintage caterpillar group at http://www.acmoc.org/ even kijiji but then the scrappers would be calling.

nice machine especially when it runs, might mention it on the crawler and dozer forum too, quite a few cat collectors on there one of them may have to have it

Posting for sale items on this forum is against the rules. There are dedicated classified ad and photo ad sections on this site for selling items.

Of course people do it from time to time, and more frequently they put up postings like this which are in effect for sale ads. A clever poster will "innocently" make a posting like this, when in reality it is just a thinly veiled advertisement:

"Oh gosh golly gee, I have a Machine X2000 Super Thingamabobber that I want to sell. Where would be a good place to post it for sale?"

In essence, you just did!

Proof positive of this is the first response to your question. You already have one potential buyer expressing interest.

Local Craig's List, a truck trader magazine, local newspapers are places to check into.

go to the ACMOC website and post it in the for sale section---Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club

No offense intended. I don't know much about equipment like this. I
know if i wanted to sell a tractor online this would be a good site in
the Photo Ad section. I spent some time looking on line and only
found the one site mentioned in one of the responses. Just trying to
help a friend who has luekemia clear out his stuff before the
inevitable. And trying to find a home for the piece. Not trying to
step on any toes

i'd be all over it too if it was closer. for that price you shouldn't have too hard of a time selling it. put it out by the street with a big sign that says $2,000.00 i'll bet you draw a crowd quick. :)

Whether it's a good site or not, it's free, so you've got nothing to lose by giving it a shot, right? Any exposure is better than no exposure.

I am going to put it on the Caterpillar site after he does a write up for it and one in the Photo Ads here. He isn't interested in making tons of money. He is just trying to clear house so his partner doesn't have to deal with it. She isn't into keeping it.
