Looking at 1270 Case on a auction. Condition is on the low side of average. Machine and tires. What do I look for mechanically on this tractor. Also what about possible value, in central Nebraska

Has it been used lately or has it been setting for a long time? stored inside or out? Any oil leaks? ac work? If you want give me a call when you get to the sale and i'll walk you threw it.Price should range from 4,000 to 7,000.Is it a yellow or white hood and cab?

The 1270 was a bit of an orphin in the Case line of tractors. It was powered by the tried and proven Case BDT451 engine and the engine was linked to it's bigger bros., 13 and 15 trannys, which did have some larger clutch packs and planetary axle gear sets.
A big drawback around here was the 1000rpm only PTO, and the fact, that for a couple K more you could own a 1370 with the 504BDT engine.
Around here central NY., a 1270 as you describe, which is mechanically sound would bring 4-5K.

Can you drive it? If so, get it warm then drive it. Crank the engine up to speed and apply the brakes and make it work then shift up and down with the power shift. You should get fairly smooth shifts with no slip. Any hesitation and/or slip, especially slip, and you have a problem. Also check that the steering and 3 point work in all the power shift gears.

I has been stored inside for quite a spell. The family got it going with fresh fuel and filters. Driving it may not be possible. Thanks
