I have a friend who bought a Prius, unknown what year model, but he bought it new. It now has 100,000 miles on it and he had to trade it off. Reason: Couldn't afford to replace the batteries -- estimated $15,000 cost. He loves the car, says it is really inexpensive to drive. I don't know if the estimate is accurate or not. I would rather take a chance on $4 gas than this.

Don't EVEN get me started. The worlds most reckless driver, right up the road, drives one now. He tried to pass me going right up the hill in front of the house the other day and almost got took head on by two cars that broke over the hill.
I made it real clear to him what I thought of him and his mother before I sent the cops out to have a little talk with him about the way he drives this road. If he has even one live brain cell,he'll find a different way to and from work for a little while.

LOL!!!!! Most of the Prius that I see are in the passing lane exceeding the speed limit and sucking gasoline at a furious rate!!!

My neighbor purchased a Prius ! Then he installed
PEDEL ASSIST, so his wife could help going uphill !!!!!!

Daughter and sil have one. I used it one day as they needed to haul something with my van. I liked it. Seemed to have plenty of power and speed for me but I am not a very aggressive driver. If the mileage gauge is accurate it shows it is getting very good and they just drive it around town.

I drive my wife's old Prius as my daily scooter.
Yes, in many ways it sounds like I'm driving an sewing machine down the road. In the spring I like to trout fish each weekday morning. That comes out to about 400 miles a week; at 50.8 mpg that translates to a little less than 8 gallons. If I were using my old GMC Sierra, that same excursion would take about 21 gallons. I pocket the difference, the oil company doesn't. She gets about 44 mpg in her Prius V(Station wagon).
Nothing pious about it. That gas money not spent goes elsewhere into the budget. And yes, you don't want to haul compost or manure in it; we use the truck for that stuff.

Four or five years ago I was outside our motel at about 6am in Pidgeon Forge Tn. Some older guy had a brand new Prius, doors, hood and trunk open. He just bought it a couple days before could explain anything about them, he'd make a good salesman, he said the battery cost 6or8 thousand but had about a 100 thousand mile warranty.
My neighbors son has a used one and he told me you could now get an aftermarket batt. for 4 grand.

My Jake don't make any noise. lol And prius drivers don't bother me too much. Now Smart Car drivers on the other hand, I really don't know what they are thinking. This video is a very good example, they have NO fear and drive like idiots. By far the worst group.
Smart car?

I pronounce it "puncture wound-ota" for the self-righteous pr!cks that think they are better then others and think they are "saving" the planet.
