Reliable weather forecast?

Looking for a more reliable weather forecast app. The Weather Channel app just burned me. Their 10 day forecast looked good for cutting hay on Wed and baling this weekend. I took We'd off of work and the forecast still looked OK as of Tues night. Just 10% on Fri and 20% on Sat. Checked Wed mornin and it has 50% Fri with 30% the weekend. So I didn't cut hay. Now it has 10% Fri and 20% on Sat. Kinda got me perfectly jacked over. Looking for a little less dramatic forecasting. Is the Old Farmers Almanac pretty close? Thanks!

noaa.gov is what I use but it is not that accurate either, I don't think
there is any such thing as a reliable weather forecast.

Weather Underground. Reporting stations probably all around you. Here the info is no more than minutes old. They have all the bells and whistles too. Highly used by the farmers, ranchers, and me.

Accu Weather is usually pretty good.With a 20% chance of rain it means that 1 out of 5 times its predicted it'll rain.

i havent found one in 12 years, there was a man on a station up in albuquerque nm, that was acurate about 90% of the time, since im 200 miles away from there i found that if i allow 3 to 4 hours difference in time it worked pretty good, he was a old man of course who knew what he was doing after a lifetime of doing it, he retired and i havent found another either offline or online thats even close to accurate, good thing i dont raise hay, id never make it

Try one of you local tv channels, if they have an app.

TWC seems to be less reliable than the tv forecasters.

You'll loose your hay crop and your mind watching the weather guessers!!!!!!!!!!! I go by this method: if hay is ready to cut then cut it. I cut some hay with a 10% chance of rain forecast everyday for a week and the next day it rained 6 inches 1st day & 2 inches the 2nd day. one week later baled the hay.

Weather forecasting is just like everything else these days. The more they try to better it and improve it, the worse it gets. Back in the late 50's early 60's we had a local forecaster on TV that did an excellent job. He was usually right on target. Everybody always mentions why they cannot do as good a job today as he did back then.

The AM radio station in a town about 10 milea away was pretty
accurate at one time. They looked out the window and gave
current conditions and even as far back as yesterday. They
didn't try to guess too far ahead though. Tommy

Reliable weather forecast? Shouldn't this be under "todays funny"? (LOL) We used to have a local weather man in Sioux Falls SD that usually got it right. I remember years ago his forecast for parts of August was hot and dry and in the 90s all week. That was back when I was in school yet and dad was combining oats and that is exactly what we had.

I"ve got to go with the other poster that suggested Weather Underground. I don"t have to worry about putting up, or cutting anything, but I do field service so I am outside working on machines 90% of the time. I found their site several years ago and this far would have to say, for me, they have been right art least 90 percent of the time plus. And that"s counting in the 10 or so percent wrong as being when something like a 10% chance of a shower turns into a 2", all day rain, and things like that, not just the will it rain or won"t it.

As mentioned earlier, I doubt one exists. With all of the technology, satellites, and govt intervention you could assume that the weather forecast would be "routine".
I have yet to see any forecast that is accurate beyond three days, if that. I have found that a combination of looking at several sites, especially local, can provide some "idea" of what to expect.
I remember being told a long time ago that tomorrow's weather has about a 80% chance of being what it is today.
They're not called "weather-guessers" for nothing!

I go to the NOAA weather map page http://www.nws.noaa.gov/outlook_tab.php, and click on 'Animated Forecast Maps.' It will show a loop for 7 days, for fronts and pressure. Don't cut hay if there's fronts or low pressure approaching. Watch for several days of high pressure in the loop.

Our local TV stations are often more accurate than The Weather Channel. Weather Nation is also more accurate than The Weather Channel is here in central MN.

I do my own weather forecasting. With live radar and
the ability to look around at yesterdays weather from
different cities both near and far, I can predict it
pretty good. It's those pop up showers that come out
of nowhere that catch me off guard.

You have to watch where they are making the forecast at. For example if I type in my zip my forecasts comes out of the twin cities. It's pretty bad. maybe right about 15% of the time. I put in a towns zip 15 due west of me and the Forecast comes out of Grand Forks ND. It's right I'd guess about 70% of the time. And that's no matter which service I've tried. I did some checking a few years back and the real dividing line for accuracy is an east west line about 25 miles south of me. Go figure.
