I am looking at buying a 270 leyland, looks like new with 2400 actual hours. parking brake does not hold. How do you fix the problem?

Not completely certain, but i think the park brake works by locking the foot brakes on (it did on the older models of leyland tractors. So, do the brakes work? if they don't then they need adjusting, dry brakes similar to many on older tractors, should be a 3/4 inch nut on the front lower side of the brake housing, turn it in for more brake. If the brakes are ok, then the issue is most likely in the hand brake mechanism, the ratchet and pawl may be worn to a point where it won't hold, or the brass bush in the lever is worn so it won't stay square, or possibly the linkage is either out of adjustment or not connected.
