IH 300 utility

Nv IH

New User
Hi,new to the forum someone has given me an international 300 utility Serial number 28080 SJ. It has Ben setting for about ten years I think. It has a bucket, five foot blade. The right rear tire(13.6x28) and wheel is bad from being eaten by what was in it for ballast. Anyway I do not know how to decode the serial number and not sure what size wheel to order. The tractor is in Wyoming I live in Nevada. Any help is appreciated.

Someone else will know more about the rim. What I
would do before ever trying to turn the engine over
is take out the spark plugs and squirt some ATF
into the cylinders, even if it's not stuck it will
be good for everything. If it's stuck you may need
to add some acetone to the ATF!

Depends on whether your tractor has 6-loop rims or power adjust rims (aka "spinout"), what you buy.

If your rims are bolted on with 6 simple loops and carriage bolts, the choice is obvious. If the rim has curved rails around the inside, it's a "spinout."

The rim width is printed on the tire. It will either be an 11" or 12" rim.

The rim dealer will be able to help you.

A 13.6 tire is normally on a 12 inch wide rim. However, that is not set in stone.....things get changed over time. Measure the rim where the bead contacts the rim. Depending on rust damage, the rim may be repaired using a section of a similar donor rim.

Ok thanks everyone. I will ask Dad to
Go measure that wheel. I am fairly
sure it bolts on with carriage blots. Is
there a web page for decoding
serial numbers? Thanks again

I just recently had the left rear wheel off my 300U. The 6 bolts
on the hub came off easily, and re-mounting the wheel was a
piece of cake with the hub to guide the wheel center. I don't
think I'd take the rim off the center while it's on the tractor. Too
hard to line it up again.
