720 with a pony motor

I have a 720D that seems to be in decent shape. I have some pony motor issues and need expert advice. The coils went out 4 years ago so we pull start about once a year just to hear it run. I think that by replacing the coils and rebuilding the carb I could get it to a running condition. I would like to clean her up, repair the minor problems and paint. I can replace the coils but probably need to ship the carb. Who and where for starters. Also, who is the go to person for advice.

Try Morgan McDonald, especially if you have broken parts and/or worn shafts. He charges but is well worth the investment.

This would be a good time to install FIT"s coil protection circuit. That pair of new coils can be smoked 10minutes after installation if somebody leaves the switch on.
The coils have to match the plug wires, there are two different systems. Otherwise the will be a classic low power missfire problem that has baffled operators for decades.

Allan,

I probably will need advice once I start the process. I hope that the only problem is crud and rust but I bet some items will need to be replaced. Are their parts ?

Toby, go to www.robertscarbrepair.com In their catalog they list almost every part for those carbs. Listed under V4 Pony Motor carp parts.
Hope this helps you.
