With 55 acres of first cutting hay still standing,I really didn't need this. You sure hate to complain about big rains in July, but I'm ready to just throw up my hands.
I suppose it could have been worse. There was a possible tornado on the south side of Grand Rapids with no watches or warnings.
The only damage I had was woman made. A guy up the road came pounding on the door at midnight and said somebody had run through a five strand fence and out in to a pasture with cattle in it. So I was out there in the worst of it fixing that good enough to keep cattle from running off. I've got to get out there and finish putting that back right.
I'm real glad now that I worked yesterday hauling bales off that one 20 acre field. I still have 84 in two other fields, but I don't think I'll dare go out there for a few days at least.
The feedlots are a slop hole but I don't have anyplace to go with manure until I get that last hay cut. Those are some grassier stands and some manure spread thin won't hurt those. There'll only be one more cutting on those and there's time for the manure to settle down and decay some out there.
Gawd! Farming is SO much fun sometimes.
