Anyone in the gravel business

What is the correct term:

crush and run
crusher run
crush-n-run

or something else?

I see it called all kinds of things and I'd like to know the correct term.

I worked in a quarry two seasons after dairying. I"d go with crusher run, just like we loaded pit run (bank run) directly out of the bank. Cheapest material was the un-separated, not processed. Just load and go. Interesting terms different areas, like "river rock"......which didn"t come out of a river....just crushed to a certain size. Then washed.

It's "crusher run", and means what Robin Hood said--it's whatever runs out of the crusher, without any additional separating or processing, and hence is usually one of the cheaper grades. Other similar terms are "bank run"--whatever the loader digs out of the bank of dirt, "camp run", a term in logging where an average price is paid for all the trees produced rather than separating them further, and "mill run", meaning to take whatever lumber is produced by a sawmill rather than separating it out by grade, though of course this term can be used for other types of mills as well.

What are you looking for? The real good gravel is called road crush. Left over stuff could be crusher run. Kind of like the tailings when making road crush.

Growing up around NYSDOT I learned to call it runacrush but to a kid runnercrush woulda sounded differant. When I called a gravel guy for FIL and asked price for 4 yd #2 runacrush he gave it to me.

In my area (S. NV) "Type 2" is everything smaller than 2" , "Leach Rock" is all rock 3" to 12" , and "Pit Run" is as it's dug from the ground. "Chip" is crushed rock that is screened & is 1/2" and smaller but no dust.

It seems like just about every state has a different term for different sizes/grades of gravel/stone, based on what exactly the state calls it in their road-building and septic regulations.
