b414 starts in gear

Since installing the new glow plug system on my 414 deizel it starts in gear. wired it from original glow plug switch to solenoid to glow plugs and works perfect but must have by passed a safety switch..Any Quick fix for this???Thanks

Are you sure you didn't knock a wire off some where? I would retrace your steps.

Does it even have a neutral safety switch? My 424, it's younger brother, does not.

Hi Harry, as other posts said B-414 never had clutch safety switch. I believe first model in that series to have clutch safety switch was either 444 or 384.
The problem with B-414 is the starter is engaged by the manual starter lever and a clutch safety switch will not work unless someone has replaced starter from a later 434 or newer model that uses a starter switch on the dash. Then a starter safety switch can be wired in series with dash starter switch.

OK if it never had a safety switch that is OK with me..Just thought I had fouled up somewhere and wanted to correct it..It had been a long while since I myself operated it and thought it should have a safety like my sons little 8 n..Thanks much guys...
