Dues to severe lack of hay and long winter, the few cattle i did not sell are in need of some decent reconditioning. Can any one provide a good feed mix I could have made up. Coop mix"s seem to be heavy on what ever it most expensive. Will have plenty of good new seeding alfalfa/oats hay for harvest in a few weeks, but want something I can supplement routinely, as in a daily treat, and get some weight and condition back into them. This group has a mix of yearling heifers, a bull, some 3-4 year old cows, and some calves in that 1-6 month age. Calves also have a creep feeder with sweet feed in it, my main concern is the cows, bull, and 500#+ hiefers. I assume the oats should be ground for the older cattle, correct?

Grass, if you have it. Worm them and turn on good pasture they will do the rest themselves and if you have any cows that won't improve on grass during the grazing season and take on condition for the winter then the economical thing to do is sell them and replace them.
