Under normal circumstances, what do you think is the minimum amount of overlap on a telescoping pto shaft? If both pieces are four foot long (eight foot pulled apart) can the shaft be run with only one foot of overlap? That would mean it was extended to seven feet. How much overlap do you need for stability?
The reason I ask is that I am fiddling with my pull rotary mower. It has a two foot fixed piece with a pillow block and then the large telescoping piece. The pillow block has been cobbled and nothing works like it should. I am considering taking the stub shaft out completely and running it with one telescoping shaft like normal implements. I was just curious whether I could use the shaft pieces that are on it (I think they are each four foot pieces).
