as john t says-sooooooo i gave up on the bug zapper, several nights ago deer browsed within 30 feet of the zapper, was during rain though and maybe there was no bugs out that night. soooooo- i'm back to an am radio tuned to static and an orange glow halloween light. worked so far. when the going gets tough, the tough gets going so guess i will go now. good news is a portion of tomorrows dinner is from the garden, freshly dug potatoes and squash.
 
Is this a area that can be fenced.
A neighbor uses a slanted fence and says it works well.

they are not very accommodating; they keep late hours, will not wait till i get up nor will they stand still long enough. they do however leave "calling cards".
 
Just eliniated the first long-eared, big-footed veggie munching garden rat of the year last night here, too. The dang garden barely out of the ground yet!

Farmers hunting season applies when it comes to my garden..

And speaking of taters, I barely have half a dozen poking out of the ground yet and I'm already finding tater bugs. Looks like it's gonna be a bad summer for the little boogers.
