OT- Mildew removal in car

My '48 Hudson got a little mildew on the plastic upholstery and headliner over the wet winter (never had a problem in that garage until this winter). Any suggestions on what to use to remove it? Gonna check at Ace Hardware, but this site has at least someone who knowledge of just about anything.

I bought an ozone machine it takes smoke mold and mouse smells out. Most car dealers have them. There are not bad for price. Maybe check at an auto dealer and they could do it for you.

48 Hudson , That sounds like a great car to have. I have a Champion spark plug in a Champion Hudson box. I wish I had the car. At car shows they are quite an attraction with the hood popped open.I hate mold.

I detailed autos for many years. The only multi-purpose cleaner I used was-is Spray Nine.
I inherited a 1976 MGB from my late brother, and it had been stored in his garage, covered up, for over nineteen years.
To say it had mold would be an understatement. Black interior was grey!
I never hesitated to use my Spray Nine, and since the car had only 6,788 miles it looked new after cleaning!
Still have the car and no mold has returned in over six years.
Wife uses it for the bath and kitchen because it is an excellent germicide.
You will find MANY uses for this cleaner.
Most hardware and auto parts stores, have it.

We use Star Brite Mildew Stain a Remover. Yellow label spray bottle that is made for boat seats. Best stuff ever. A little hard to find but I've seen it at Autozone sometimes and I've ordered over the internet.

Mike,
Had the same problem with my vacation trailer when we lived in Puyallup. I used a weak solution of bleach and water to remove mildew and then re-wiped with a damp cloth and really ventilated(aired it out). I then bought a moisture remover at an RV store that required the granules and that took care of the problem. Good luck. Joe

You are right. I think if you look at what's in most mold/mildew cleaners, it's a form of bleach.

I thought only Indiana had humidity problems.

Yesterday morning, 6 am, on the local news, the temp was 65 degrees and humidity 90%. The grass was full of dew.

Mike, I looked everywhere before I decided Spray 9 wasn"t sold in Warshinton. I got mine thru Amazon.com

I had a '76 MGB in a previous life. Loved everything about it but the Lucas "Prince of Darkness" electronic ignition. Never knew when the thing was going to cut out, and since it would "repair" itself after a period of time, it was almost impossible to track down the problem.

Several years ago, I bought mine from CARQUEST. They stopped stocking it and I started buying from http://www.officesupply.com/search?q=Spray+Nine
My wife and I, use a lot of spray nine so I buy the 5 gallon size.
Last time I was in Lowes, I noticed they now have it in the quart spray bottle.
What amazes me is that it will clean virtually everything but is designed as a Vinyl cleaner. Just follow directions and don't use on leather.
OH----I have no connection with spray nine but I want them to continue manufacturing.
