Check with your local Highway Maintenance dept. They often have blades not suitable for their use, but fine for what you need (mods req'd). Sometimes free . HTH

Cutting edge, do a search on the net, you will find suppliers of hardened, abrasion resistant steel cutting edge stock. You will have to check hole spacing, and the width that would work best.

I would suggest researching the manufacturer, I've attached a link to the unit that appears to be similar or what you may have.

I saw those photos, where the previous owner, did not change or reverse the cutting edge, and that its worn down quite a bit. Regardless of previous comments, that could be built back up, weld in a piece, then get a replacement cutting edge from woods, they still make these, so you should be able to source a new cutting edge.

If you go to a highway dept and get used stock, they can't use, but can be re-purposed, it may just be a weld in, not the right size, holes don't match or the wear on the ends is excessive, etc. To me that may work, but its kind of a sloppy repair, and it voids the cutting edge to be replaced easily, reversed etc. which is what it came with originally, re-sale will be less when done like that, though you may not sell it for many many years, always worth considering.

For an implement such as this, a competent heavy equipment, steel fab shop welder etc. could repair that so its as strong as it was when new, likely by welding a piece in, then just replace the cutting edge if Woods has it, they list a specification of its size, 1/2" (.5) x 6", so if by chance they have it, that's all you need, if not, you'll need a section of same with correct hole spacing. I'm not sure of the hardening on these, how deep, it could be a tough job to drill, steel shop with a punch is usually how these are fabricated, or so I thought. I'm not sure if that can be done after hardening, so it could be an issue with a used or new piece with the wrong spacing, its common with mild steel, like A60, I used to buy quite a bit of steel with holes or slots punched out. Only other thing I can think of is a cutting torch, but that may entail embrittlement and with the square shoulder on the fasteners, bugle head, clipped, forget what you call those, you need a square hole, ie; steel shop with punch, going this route just makes more work and does not match how the implement was built. Plasma cutter, have no idea, just brain storming here LOL ! I'd have to suggest, get it welded up, get the right part from Woods, be done with it, and then that implement's value is restored because its done right.

We have a local guy who does work in industrial plants, factories, welds, fabricates, many years of experience, he'd have that job done in a day with all the materials on site.

Caterpillar does offer cutting edge stock that I know of, if you provide dimensions, just the length, relative to hole spacing is what you would want to match. Potentially, 1/2" x 6" double sided cutting edge, possibly 76" long or longer with correct spacing, if longer, cut the end or ends off to match what you need.

Many suppliers of this material are on the web as well.

Hopefully of some help !

It appears you could order, 1/2" x 6" double bevel, (reversible) as shown in this order sheet, possibly 76" long with holes 12" on center ? You would have to carefully measure and determine what would fit correctly, order from this supplier, with the fasteners.

I bought a 5 foot wide Woods brand box scraper for my Compact tractor. Used only 1-2 times per month on a gravel drive. $650 (that is new from a NH dealer)

You have one of the best boxblades built. Gannon box blades are the best. They made several models, hyd scrarfyers and a rollover and the one you have.

Forgive me, but what's wrong with that one?
My eyes are not good, but from the picture I don't see a problem.
Many are double sided, can you just flip it over?
If the inner is bad, can you swap it with the rear?

Don't know where you are located but there is a place in Denver, Colorado called Wear Parts, that sells all kinds of cutting edges. All they need is the measurements. They have a web site.

the previous owner used and abused it.
these nuts and bolts are still good, right ?
mvphoto7277.jpg

they wore it clean to the bolts and then some.
mvphoto7278.jpg

you can see the right side bolt hole is all but gone.
mvphoto7279.jpg

we are going to replace the blade and then and weld on a piece of bar to replace the worn away metal for backing.

it was the perfect excuse to go buy our new welder, cause we like to fix things ourselves. :)
