hydraulic oil in crank case oil

In my 3414 international I suspect hydraulic oil is leaking into the crank case from the power steering pump located on the right hand side of the gas engine. This pump also pumps oil back to the three point hitch. Could oil get to the crankcase from the three point hitch also? Is there any way to tell if it is hydraulic oil in the crank case without taking the pump apart and replacing the seals?

If you're losing oil from your power steering and the crankcase oil level is rising that's probably
happening. I would've thought you would have a separate hydraulic pump for the 3-point hitch. Get a shop manual for your tractor it should have a picture of the pump breakdown. I have a picture of the Super C pump. Hal

Thanks Hal. I have a parts manual that diagrams a pump that shows one line to the power steering pump but the one on the tractor has a extra line going to the rear end, could be for an auxiliary, I will have to check closer. The tractor holds 8 gals. of oil and has only one tank for it. It is kind of hard to tell with a small amount of oil also leaking here and there from cyl's, ect. I get about a 1/4 inch on dip stick after an hour of running. I will plan on tearing it apart and have a look see. Thanks again. Darold

IDK about your IH but a Ford 4500 is similar and if the seal between the PS pump and engine fails the oil ends up in the crankcase.
