1948 allis chalmers road patrol cgrader find parts

we are looking for a radiator cap and have been sent 5 all wrong. It is a inside lock lip not outside. Like gas cap on cars. Non pressure. Also question. Can you switch out the tractor from 1 speed to 2 speed rear end or gear box? Need to gear down to slow up for grading roads. Goes to fast for what we are doing and cant change blade set fast enough. Or who would be interested in buying so we can buy a regular road grader.
 
By 48 they should all be pressure caps. Same as a WC. No clue on the 2 speed, but as collectable as they are, I bet you'd be ahead on the long run to sell it to a collector and buy a road grader.

If your grader is the one based on the WC frame I wonder if it could be fitted with the Sherman transmission- it fits between the AC transmission and the differential- where the cultivator mechanical lift would be. I have a wartime WC with the Sherman.
 
The Sherman trans part sounds right but where would you ever find something like that? Haven't seen any Sherman tanks lately.
 
Sherman (no clue if it's the same as the tank people) made a 2 speed gearbox for WC's and other tractors. Had a regular/high box and a regular/low box. Rare but out there. Check with antique pulling places, lot of those guys use them for gearing issues.
