Walnut picker?

Saw this on CL, advertised as a golf ball retriever or walnut picker.
Anyone ever used one? I'm wondering why the baskets would be
wider on one side of the rollers as opposed to the other.
Or why you would even need them on both sides.
No need to explain how they get it up in the tree....... LOL

Lol. I had to read the last line twice,
I'm kinda slow. I think the front one gets
the balls that would hit the seam of the
two baskets in the rear. Or not. Pretty
neat concept. How does it pull the golf
balls out of the cup?

If you look close you'll see the "fingers" that go between the wheels to pluck the balls/walnuts out, right behind the front basket, and you will also see that there are no fingers between the two rear baskets. Greg you were really close. chris

Where is that at? My dad built and sold a bunch of units like that back in the late 80's, early 90's. Didn't make any money on them, but him and his business partner got to visit a lot of golf courses. One thing they had was a winch setup, so you could drag it thru a water hazard. Sold them all down south, Fla, GA, Alabama, La. Going into water hazards down there can be, like hazardous!!!

It looks like the roller baskets are broken into
thirds so it can hold more before being emptied

I think there are fingers for the back baskets, otherwise the rollers would be picking up balls all across the rollers and only releasing them from the centers of the roller. Greg is correct. Looks like there are brackets that dislodge the balls from the backs of the rollers. Bill

If you look close, you will see that there are no "fingers" to flip the balls/nuts out into the baskets along the back of the middle third of each picker.

The fingers for the middle third are in front.

So, the outer parts of each picker flip the balls/nuts into the rear baskets, and the middle section of each picker flips the balls/nuts into the front basket.

Looks like it allows for about 50% more nut-carrying capacity than if the entire machine flipped the nuts into the rear basket only. Each basket is 1/2 the width of the machine.

This would only work well if the trees were surrounded by level ground and close cut grass. Most of my trees are in fence rows, or in tall grass. Even my trees around the buildings would not allow the use of something that size.
