OT:dually wheels

I have a 1971 Ford F350 with the old locking ring rims and I am trying to convert to new style tubeless 16" dually rims. Presently I have 3 of them, but looking for 3 or 4 more. The problem is only 1978-early 84 will work correctly as every other lug bolt hole is chamfered differently(4 one way and 4 other way). The 3 I have now is stamped Accuride 28322. No one in my area has them that I've found. Other rims will fit but supposedly you can't keep bolts tight. Anyone with a lead in east central Mo. or Ill. please let me know.

Have you tyied any of the used auto parts supplers? Most of them are hooked up with yards all over the country and get online and find them for you ( if there are any out there}.

Sounds like you need what is on our 1981 F350 sorry I still need them too. I don't even have one for a spare shame on me !

I did get my engine from a 1985 F350 and it did indeed have different rims they were for use with nuts that had built in washers on them. No champher to the holes.

are you talking about budd style rims that use a flanged nut? Its my understanding that you use a chamfered nut on the chamfered holes to center the rim on the axle as the lug bolts don"t actually touch the rim. Then remove them and after the rim is centered and 4 flanged nuts have been tightened down on the other 4 holes. the reason for the 4 facing one way and the other 4 facing the other way is one way works for the inner duel and the other works for the outer. I could be wrong but that"s the way I was told. Bill

Does your rims have a stamping that says: 28322 accuride and with a Ford logo. It'll be on the deep dish side so you can look on the rear wheels?

Our truck has accuride 27796 and yes they have a Ford logo
too. Wierd thing is the max inflation stamping was xx out
hard to tell but looked like 80 lbs and now says 55 lbs.
Never looked at that before and sure as heck I run more
then 55 lbs of air in them !

Hope this helps the search.

The price junk yards want for rims for even a small car
steelies you might find a truck cheaper then 6 rims !

The rims in Bloomington didn't pan out

we want to restore our 72 GMC some... day... when the time comes, im thinking about getting a 03 or newer diesel 4x4 that has been wrecked and incorporating the cab and flatbed onto the newer frame etc... better handling, better gear ratio, non wheel issues.

Your hubs should have a locating pin,(Ford only) it keeps the valve stems pointing the right way. I think GM wheels will fit, BUT, you must have the steel ring that gos between the lug nuts and the wheel, and cut off the pin. Watch your tire size, over stock sizes, will rub in the center.

Our 1981 Ford I think was made for bias ply tires and since we have had it (1985?)all we could find was radials and they have always rubbed with a load on it. Never seemed to of caused a problem though ?

You must not use it much, because rubbing creates heat and heat creates blowouts.

If you've got enough lug on the hub, maybe a spacer to separate the wheels?

My truck has one locating pin and I guess the other side is broken off. I wonder what gm wheel will work? My 97 F250 HD had a spare rim with no tire and a friend loaned me a spare from a late 80's Chevy and it fit the front(4x4) but not the rear which has the sterling 10.5 rearend. The center hole was too small but just barely.
