Anyone on here knowledge about older Mossberg 22 rifles? When did they use Mossberg scopes? Anyone have old catalogs they can photo copy? Thanks in advance. J.

I had one of their early semi-automatic 22s. A model 152. That said, it was easy to understand why they don't make them anymore. Enormous amount of modifying to make it feed correctly and eject without jamming. Came close to buying one of their bolt actions but didn't Too many other competing 22 rifles that worked better for less money. Their shotguns are a different story IMHO.

I have my dads .22 cal. bolt action Wards rifle ( made by Mossberg in the mid 1930's). It had a crude scope on it that was built by his brother who was a tool & die maker. I remember dad taking a lot of squirrels and woodchucks with that rifle.

I think the Mossberg scopes date to the mid fifties to mid sixties.
I collect Mossberg rifles and have a few of their scopes, not that bad, for their age, similar to a G series Weaver.

I have an early 50's model 152K Mossberg that's had many, many rounds through it with no problems. It's my favorite squirrel gun. There's a Mossberg forum on Rimfirecentral, I'm sure someone there could give you the straight information. Here's the link

I have a heavy 12 gauge bolt action with poly choke Mossberg that was my dads. It's a monster to carry.

Theres a collectors book out there titled, IIRC, "Old Rifle Scopes" that might be of help. I bought a long tube Mossberg scope thinking I could put it on my Win 52. The optics are poor for anyone used to modern scopes. A Lyman Jr. Targetspot went on the 52. I also have an ancient Wollensack, forerunner to Redfield I believe, that sits on a Savage 23a. Much better optics.

May or may not be of interest, but I took off a Hawthorne 6x 60 off my father's 151K Mossberg .22 in '97, I thought it was on there since new, not sure whether age, low quality or what, on of the cross hairs was warped, so I put a new one on it for him.

Bret,Is it practical to put a scope on a 22?To me the rifel/cartrige dosent have the range to justify a scope.Although the olimpic triathletes use them.
I have my father's Win.52(4 diget S/N).Lymon peeps on it though.

were very helpful years ago finding some parts for an old WWII trainer that my dad had. He has some links on that page to various collector associations. Cheryl sent me some parts diagrams back in the day. Wouldn't be surprised if they have the stuff available online these days.

Sure it is. Especially as we get older and it becomes more difficult to focus. We owe it to our game to make the best shot possible.

I have one of those .22's sold by Mongomery Wards. It's a single shot. I think it is the same as a Mossburg Model B?
