I recently replaced the hydraulic lift control valve on my 9N tractor. I pushed the control valve into the hole in the pump below the pressure relief valve. It did not slide in easily. Now the lift raises slowly and stays up. Should the control valve slide in and out easily? I would appreciate knowing how it should operate. Thanks.

I can't remember for sure, but I would say you don't quite have things lined up correctly. It shouldn't have to be forced in. You should take it back out and make sure you didn't bend something. I do remember that they are a booger to get back in since you can't see in there. It's just a shot in the dark.....
