Retaining wall recommendations

Need to put two retaining walls in. Had a company come out and price Ready rock today. It is 1200 lb stones that are man made that stack like Legos need approx 20 rocks @ 90$ each. That was price with me installing. Instillation seems pretty straight forward. Anyone used this product or have any other suggestions...

It sounds like what the excavation contractor that I used to hire on with used on one of the last projects that I was with them on. They had some problems with the vendor but the product worked well for them. It was new at the time so they got a good deal on it.

I deliver for a company that makes that kind of stuff. The only thing I can say is, Keep in mind how high you go with it. Different block needs to be engineered in at different heights. Do your homework. Its not fun when a wall fails because it was too high without something to tie it back into the bank.
I have never installed a retaining wall, but have seen lots of them in process. It seems that the toughest part is getting the 1st course set properly, after that its just stacking and back filling.

I just remembered where another was used, that was maybe twenty feet high. I hauled a lot of gravel for it because they were back filling behind it with gravel to facilitate compaction. Being only six feet, compaction is not as great a factor, but the need is still there, because you don't want it settling afterward.

Friend has walk out basement. The contractor who built his house, installed a poured basement and the retaining wall was also poured concrete, part of basement.

If I was putting it up I would lean it 10 degrees against the ground side. I see many that were put up verticle leaning "out" after the frost worked on them a couple years.
