IH 656 fuel problem help

I have a IH 656 gas and I'm having issues keeping it running. It starts and runs for about 30 seconds then quits. I checked the sediment bowl and gas flow. Gas flow is good when the sediment bowl is off but when I tighten it up the flow slows way down. What is the issue and how do I fix it?

Thanks

Joe

Sounds like the sediment bowl is behaving normally. To check the flow of fuel, you'll need to remove the fuel line where it fits into the carburetor. If you have excellent flow there, the next suspect would be the fuel inlet filter screen, located inside the carburetor, right where the fuel line goes in.

When mine stops, it is a chunk of rust between the tank and bowl. It might look like its flowing good, but it's not good enough. Get a piece of hose, just big enough to fit over the stem, then blow back into the tank. I also put a small magnet into the bowl, to catch any rust that goes threw so it does not get to the filters.

Might be your carb float valve is sticking shut. Mine has done that after setting a while, tap on carburetor and see if it lets loose.
