Pasture Care

I have a lot of heavy and tall grass in my pasture from last
year. Just wondering if it would be good for it to rotary
mow it so the new grass can get some sun, or if it will
come on just as good regardless? Any thoughts on this. I
would like to burn it off, but we are so dry here in Central
Ks there is a burn ban on right now. Thanks for the input -

Mowing leaves clumps of grass that smothers the new growth. You'd be better of leaving it or grazing it. Fire is my first choice but politicians have blocked that tool around here anymore.

BTW- there's lots of stuff goats won't eat. They are about the pickiest eaters on our farm.
