I have one of these old girls and its cherry, has a grain bed on it and a darn nice truck. Here is the rub, I am what the new generation calls robust, in my generation I am a fat ba$tard. I don't fit for nothing behind the steering wheel on this truck. Before I start some constructive destruction, I was wondering how many of you have encountered this and what did you do to fix it. I truly hope I am not the only one for that may cause me to give up beverages and go on a diet..

Didn't that cab have the fuel tank behind the seat?

Can you use that space to move the seat back?

Or maybe one of those welded chain steering wheels! LOL

I have a '64, I always thought it was a very comfortable truck, really hard to say given that series cab what you can do to create some space, and if its that clean low mileage, probably hate to modify it, always liked the '61-'66 series.

I would put a saddle tank on it and remove the thin tank behind the seat. You will have to drill new mounting holes but you can get several inches that way.

I knew a bus driver that was a big gal. She drove a 79 blue bird on the Ford chassis - same wheel and geometry. She had patches on the belly of her shirts from the steering wheel rubbing through.
