I wouldn't even think of selling a collection without talking to an auctioneer that specializes in that particular type of collectible.
Collectors will cherry pick your best stuff and beat you up on the price leaving you with the common stuff that will be tough to sell.
A knowledgeable auctioneer can net you more money than if you sell it yourself. I'm not talking about your local auction house. I'm talking auctioneers with a national following. In this case Kurt Aumman comes to mind. There are others as well.

Pops, I agree. There are two or three auction companies in my area who handle general estate sales, but there is one who specializes in collectables, pottery, any kind of antiques, etc. He has people come from all over to some of his sales and he gets good prices, too.

Are there any old Oliver, actual toys that were meant for kids to play with, not "collector" toys?

Shadetree, aren't you from North Carolina? Who is this person who specializes in collectables? Can you get me some contact information? Thanks, Todd.

rrlund, not that I'm aware of. The Olivers were not a popular brand in this area. So, when the collecting was going on at a fever pitch there were no dealers to go to. Todd.

Todd, Do yourself a favor and at least call Aumman. He conducts sales all over the country. He is THE go to guy for farm toys.

Ever heard of Harry Barrick in Newville PA? He has a huge Oliver collection of toys and the big tractors.Unbelievable amount really plus lots of Oliver pedal tractors.
