Talked Dewalt regional rep and he said that Dewalt is going to have their tools mfg in US starting wit hand tools first.

Found parts reasonable easy to get too! When you pay $100-$200 for a tool it's nice to be able to get parts to fix it, if you have to send it out for repair it's going to cost $75-$100 easy, makes repair questionable and buying a new one attractive. With parts availability you can replace a switch or brushes for $25-$30 which is sustainable.

I had my doubts about modern Dewalt, but I bought them because that is what my locally owned hardware switched over to. But, I have had to admit that they are holding up.

I"ll have to agree with "Bob", on another post
here.In my opinion "Black and Decker" is the
poorest quality, scrape the bottom of the barrel,
dime store stuff. I"ve read, in other posts, at
different forums, that "DeWalt" is just B&D with
a different color of plastic. I won"t buy any !

I hate their 18 volt batteries. I don't use the tools much and have to buy 80 dollar batteries every few months . Absolute junk.

Have you tried lithium ion batteries for it (if available)? I've had excellent luck with my Ryobi Li batteries, the charger even revived some old NiCads that I thought were dead and wouldn't take a charge anymore on the standard charger. They are expensive but won't crap out on you in the middle of a project and recharge in 30 min. or less.

i like dewalt tools,HATE THEIR BATTERIES.

I found years ago on ebay Ni-Mh batteries are selling for around $40, last for years, 3000 ma-hr. I purchases 2 Li-ion dewalt batteries. It takes 2 li = one Ni-Mh, however I like to use dewalts newer charger, which won't cook the battery like the old black dewalt chargers, it shuts off.

If you don't want two buy charger, for a few bucks get a dewalt radio, it has a built in charger, love mine.

I use DeWalt 18V at work LiOn, at home NiCad and NiMh
Work well for me
prefer the LiOn batteries mainly because they will not let you ruin them by using them past where they need recharging.
Bought new NiCads after learning the hard way, by using them on a saw until the blade quits moving then throwing the battery on the charger hot.
Black and Decker Professional power tool line was unbeatable, non better back in the 70's -80's. Home owner line was very light duty.
You got what you paid for.
Delta/Rockwell/Porter Cable was same way with home owner and professional lines
Glad to see manufacturing moving back

Dewalt is not just B&D junk.
It is pretty good stuff.

GM makes many different vehicles under it corporate umbrella.
Are they all the same quality?
Will a chevette pull a trailer just like a big GM pickup?
