any you guys ever use hog panels for a field fence in certain places.might be a little more expensive than woven wire but would be a sturdy fence i would think.

Field fence used for what?? In my area, no one lets there hogs out of the pen. Hog panels are to short for cattle, horses, or goats. Would hold sheep I guess, but very few sheep in my area. What few sheep are around are raised by people with a very small acreage. Just curious why you would want a field fenced off with hog panels.

I got out of the hog business in the 80's and when I took down my hog pens I saved the panels. I've used them in a couple of places and they work great, I just put a strand of barb wire at the top.

I've got a neighbor that uses them for his llamas. He has them up about a foot off the ground. It wouldn't work if he had babies but he just has a dozen as pets. Really dumb, demonic, annoying pets.

He's been known to waste money on pipe dreams, so I can't say whether it was cost effective for him. It looks fairly nice.

Hi
At the current prices up here in Canada I can"t really afford to use them for my hog business that i need them for. So sure as heck wouldn"t try fencing anything like a small field or area with them. Wire is way cheaper.

The last few we got in new here are junk they last about 5 days and the spot welds break, I guess they come from a factory, in the land of nearly right now.
Regards Robert

I've used cattle panels in certain spots where wire just wouldn't hold. At over $20.00 for 16 feet, it's a very expensive way to fence. For making paddocks or temporary pens and such they work great. They have their uses and would make a decent fence if you could afford it. They will not make a good horse or cattle fence without electric or barbed wire on the inside.

i use them through timber areas where have lots trees and flood gaps. tree falls down just ruins panel or two instead of ruining the stretched wire fence completely

years ago I bought a truck load of cattle panels at a consignment sale for 1.00 each. I have them up for lot fences. They are the only thing those filthy dam goats can't tear up.
