Nice pictures. Looks like to plow might have hit a few rocks on the high ground. Maybe that was all that was holding it from washing down the hill.

larry@stinescorner; thanks again for sharing. Yup, I've always thought those rolling hills looked just like 'God's Country' in Wisc.

"A truckload of earcorn drove by !" gotta say you've got some talented corn if it can do that.

Dave, I thought it was some old beer-bellied crack pot leaning against the counter!

Very few plow anymore. Almost everyone is no-till. Maybe he has some extra cash to spend on $4.75 diesel fuel.

The only place I know of that could till land that steep is in Central Oregon, with very dry, sandy volcanic soil. But then if it don't rain, there ain't nothing to worry about, except of course wind erosion, which is more severe than water erosion.

How do you get by with plowing highly eroidible ground? In Illinois our FSA Govt. office would be on us fining the crap out of us these are federal laws don't they enforce them there?

I'm with you. Great pictures, but can't imagine plowing slopes like that. In our neck of the woods, that is called recreational tillage.

It could be anywhere in the "Driftless Area",
(Where Glaciers never hit),of Southwest Wisconsin
Southeast Minnesota, or Northeast Iowa. Looking
at Photos like yours reminds me of why Chief
Blackhawk loved the land so much. Enough to fight
for it, Enough to die for it !

Nice pictures. Beautiful country. If you have really good resolution and you zoom in on that last picture with the house. Look in the lower left most window. Is that a crock pot on the counter?

Is that how they got them big hills, by throwing the dirt upward from the plows? Do they ever start at the bottom and throw it downward? Thanks for all the photos you post on this site.

Larry"
You always show some of the most beautiful pictures.
I have been to that part of the kuntry in the past.
Another thing I like is, you are not "AFRAID" to tell people where the location of said pictures are taken.
I have been amazed by they way they farm the slopes in that part of the country. Here in southern Indiana if they plow up hillsides the first rain storm comes and all that is left is gulleys.
