When I came in from working on the pos hose reel, I heard my sump pump running. Looked in the basement, and sure enough water was running. I guess now it's a matter of his soon we dry out and warm up. With how harsh this winter was, I surely didn't think we'd thaw out this early... some fields before this rain were looking dry enough to go out and try to scratch them over where we had to quit last fall because the ground froze too deep within a day.

The rivers iced-out late this week around Hutchinson, MN. There is a lot of frost in the ground and ice on the lakes yet. The ground is very dry, I think it is absorbing a fair amount of water in the thawed layer above the frost.

Snow is still knee deep here. Sister had most of her garden planted by this time last year but that was unusually early.

I'm thinking here too.
We had that greasy mud on top of the ground for a week or two. Then about 3 days of 60+ temps.
Suddenly the ground is drying out fast. Like the frost left and the water is soaking in.

My thermometer showed 81 here in central IN today. Starting Monday Temps are expected to drop well below normal for at least 5 days with Freezing temps at night. I doubt frost is done here. Worse yet the trees are in bloom here, & pollen count is high!
