I just read a couple guys died replacing new power
poles about 10 miles North of me. The boom gave out
from a 160' height. Sorry to hear about this on
such a nice day here, prayers to thier family.

The boom gave out???? That sounds like a mechanical failure, yet the link you put up shows the crane toppled over.

Sounds like human error vs. a mechanical failure as you made it out to be.

NOT much consolation to the deceased and their families, though!

Gotta agree. Either they were out too far and because of reach exceed the max load or were working in high winds. Either one is human error.

If it was in fact mechanical error I'll bet money that something was repaired by the cheapest place.

Bad day for the families.

I think they're using boom gave out and truck toppled interchangeably. Maybe the ground wasn't compacted enough for the outriggers or they were too far out or it was windy? Hard to say exactly what happened but sad for the loss of life.
