You stated you were in Northern Ontario. How far north? what kind of farming is done thereCrops?Livestock?Growinsg season?A few pics, please!I really enjoy finding out about different areas of farming.Would love to travel and see some of these places! Thank you!! Steve

I think in Northern Ontario the only thing farmed is trees for the paper mill.[ Which is losing money on requirments for recycled materials to be used which then have to be trucked in at a loss.]

Yes the only thing farmed up here besides trees are blackflies and mosquitoes, female grouse suffer most from the over sexed male blackflies, and snow is a hot comodity to feed the snow fleas, study up and you will get to know more facts

In Ontario agriculture is pretty much too cold and rocky for other than grazing livestock north of Barrie. With an exception of the sandy Earlton area.
The best of Ontario is a small strip of farmland in a line south of Goderich to Toronto.

I was born in Kapuskasing . I do remember going on an outing to a farm outside town. After that it's pretty much trees. I just google satelite viewed my old neighborhood on Dominion St and then Devonshire st. I see those original houses which were all owned by the mill are gone now.

They just shut down the paper mill in Ft Frances for good, but they are building a new sawmill at Atikokan. There used to be about 12 different paper machines running in Thunder Bay and now there are 2.
Mining is doing OK in that area, we were in Thunder Bay 2 years ago and had trouble finding a motel room because of a safety meeting for the mining industry.
Across the river from our cabin it's mostly beef cattle.

Hi guys, I live at the top of the I -75 right at the Michigan Sault border . In fact I live in Sault Ste Marie Ont. The farms are East of the Sault and are mixed crop and stock . The Mennonites have moved here from southern ont. and are reworking those old fields. The farms very from 40 - 160 acres cleared . I still cannot post pics. on this stupid laptop but if you plan on coming up, call me or email [email protected] cell # 705 975 2803
